Since 2010, when Dynasty was founded, assets in employer-sponsored retirement accounts have more than doubled, from $4.9 trillion to over $11 trillion by the end of 2021. In addition to market appreciation, this growth was due to lower renewals due to retiree-friendly plan policies and better investment options in the plan. A recent Cerulli Report found that of the $3.3 trillion eligible for distribution last year, 73% remained in the plan. Bipartisan support for the accommodative legislation in SECURE Act 2.0 and the reinstatement of the DOL’s fiduciary rule suggest that the trend of growth in employer-sponsored plans will only continue.

Consequently, the need for investment advice in these accounts has increased; a recent JP Morgan survey found that 62% of plan members wish they could leave their retirement planning entirely to an expert. Historically, however, financial advisors have struggled to help clients with these accounts because they are typically kept away from wealth advice platforms (or “kept out”).
