Pleasanton hires new chief financial officer

PLEASANTON, CA — Susan Hsieh began Monday as Pleasanton’s new chief financial officer, the city announced.

Hsieh brings over 20 years of financial experience in the public and private sectors. She comes to Pleasanton from San Leandro, where she served as Chief Financial Officer from 2020 to 2022. Prior to that, she served as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Emeryville from 2016 to 2020. For seven years prior, Hsieh served as Deputy Chief Financial Officer and Assistant . Chief Financial Officer of the Association of Bay Area Governments, a regional planning agency incorporating local governments in all nine Bay Area counties.

Prior to joining the public sector, Hsieh led audit engagements and financial statement audits for Grant Thornton, a national accounting firm. She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in business administration from Cal State East Bay.

In Pleasanton, Hsieh will continue his efforts to maintain his good financial situation. “Pleasanton is an exceptionally well-run town, and I am delighted to join this much-loved organization. I look forward to working with City Council and staff to serve the community,” Hsieh said in a statement.

“We are thrilled to have Susan join the City’s leadership team. Her extensive background in public finance coupled with her experience in the private sector are welcome and her collaborative approach will make her an ideal candidate,” Pleasanton City Manager Gerry Beaudin said in a statement.
