Summit League partners with College Sports Solutions, LLC

SIOUX FALLS, SD – The Summit League today announced a partnership with College Sports Solutions (CSS) to conduct an operational review and help facilitate the creation of a strategic plan for the 10-member conference.

“The future is bright for the Summit League and the partnership with CSS will help us create a plan that will enhance the experiences of our student-athletes and fans, while serving as a roadmap for our future,” said Commissioner. Josh Fenton. . “We look forward to working with respected intercollegiate athletics veterans Jeff Schemmel and Kevin Weiberg to develop a dynamic strategic plan that will strengthen the League as a whole.”

The CSS team is led by its founder and president, Jeff Schemmel. He has over 30 years of experience managing intercollegiate athletics at the highest level, including a stint as Director of Athletics at San Diego State before founding CSS.

“Our College Sports Solutions team looks forward to working with Commissioner Fenton, his Conference Office team, and Summit League member institutions,” Schemmel said. “This is an important time for Division I athletics and its conferences. Having a substantial and meaningful strategic plan, with the ability to adapt and capitalize on the ongoing changes in college sport, is essential. Joining Schemmel on this project is former Big 12 commissioner Kevin Weiberg, who brings extensive knowledge and experience in conference operations after also serving in various Big Ten and Pac-12 roles throughout the throughout his career.

The Summit League Council of Presidents has approved the hiring of the CSS, which is expected to complete its full work by the end of May and present its findings at annual League meetings. With CSS, the League will integrate all member institutions into the strategic planning process.
